GoM Fiber System
During 2007 and 2008, BP constructed the longest oil & gas dedicated fiber optic cable system with more branching units than any system in the world. The system initially linked seven of BP's platforms with the BP enterprise via cable landing stations in Pascagoula, Mississippi, and Freeport, Texas. Since then multiple other major Oil & Gas producers have connected to the network.

BP is asking for everyone’s help in protecting this system from damage caused by fishing, anchors, pipelines and other external aggression. To this extent, BP is making route information available to help parties in their subsea planning and engineering.
The more informed you are, the easier it will be to protect the cable. BP realizes there will be a need to talk in greater detail.
